Meets and Events
In addition to daily practices, our swimmers and divers participate in a variety of competitions, including intrasquad meets, dual meets, and championships. We also enjoy a number of team social events, all of which can be found with the meet schedule in the Events Calendar section of the website.
Swim and dive meets take a lot of coordination on the part of the coaches and organizers, and it is very important that they know who will be participating - both athletes and volunteers! Find out more about how to RSVP your athlete or sign up for volunteer jobs for each meet on the Sign Up Instructions page. You can learn more about the parent/family volunteer requirement on the Parent Volunteering page in this section.
We compete each season in 5 weekly dual meets against teams in the Greater Columbus Swim League (GCSL): Annehurst, Delaware, Highlands Park, Northwest, Plain Township, Westerville JC, and Worthington. Our home dual meets are at the Gahanna Swimming Pool, and each away meet is hosted by the opposing team. Check out the Away Meet Maps section to find those facilities.
Each meet begins with dive competition, followed by individual and relay swimming events. Competition is divided between boys and girls and among 6 age groups: 6 & Under, 8 & Under, 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, and 18 & Under. Swimming events include backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, individual medley, medley relay, and freestyle relay. Athletes who participate in at least 3 dual meets are eligible for the league championship meet at the end of the season.
The event that all our athletes work for is the championship meet at the end of the season. Dive championships occur over the course of two days (Friday and Saturday) with juniors and seniors diving separately. Swim championships take place in one day (the following Monday).
For 2020, dive champs will be July 10 & 11 at the Gahanna Swimming Pool, and swim champs will be July 13 at Highlands Park in Westerville.
