What Happens at a Meet?
Dual meets, whether at home or away, have the same general schedule:
- 3pm - dive warm-ups
- 4pm - dive meet begins
- 5pm - swim warm-ups
- 6pm - swim meet begins
Once you arrive at the pool, you should plan to set up in the team camp area then have your athlete check in with the coach. Divers and swimmers are expected to warm up before the meet during a session led by the coaches. Before the meet begins, swimmers often use a Sharpie marker to write their event numbers on their arms, which helps them keep track of where they need to be. Once the meet starts, athletes should listen for announcements and be prepared to report in for their events. The swimming portion of the meet typically lasts approximately 2 hours.
